Super Smash, Bros. Brawl, Nintendo, delay

Normal

Earlier this week, Nintendo announced Super Smash Bros. Brawl was officially delayd by another month. Instead of being released on February 11th, it's launch date now is March 9th.
I have been a long time Super Smash Brothers fan ever since it's debut on the N64 system. I literally would spend almost every weekend night over my friend's house playing it against two of my other friends. The latest I ever got back home from a Smash Bros. session was around 5am. Lord knows that if I try that now, I'll pretty much have a crappy following day.
But that's besides the point. I totally understand the perspective of the developer since I spend majority of my day speaking to developers and publishers. As a gamer though, this news both disappoints and excites me at the same time.
It disappoints because, like most gamers, when I am anticipating the release of a title and it's literally on the horizon, I get even antcy. When something gets delayed even further right when it's close to being released, that just makes my antcier and more impatient.
On the other hand, this news excites me because the delay in he game only means that the team at Nintendo are making absolute sure what they send out is of the highest quality. One thing I'm hoping will happen from this delay is the assurance that the online play will work as soon as Brawl is released. From my past experience with big name games, the online multiplayer portion of the game is always crap not because of anything the developers did, but because the amount of people accessing the game's servers all at one time pretty much make the multiplayer unplayable the first couple of days/weeks. So if the delay means flawless multipayer, then I'm all for it.
Super Smash Bros. Melee is the best selling Gamecube title of all time selling six million units worldwide. If Nintendo can deliver everything they've been promoting for Brawl, flawless online play, and a well-balanced, memorable cast, then I can already see Brawl being the best selling Nintendo game of all time.

I've been called many a-curse word in my day, but I've never owned a shirt that represents a curse word that I've heard way too often in my lifespan.
If I knew where I could buy one of these shirts, you better believe that I'd wear it at the next wedding I'm invited to or the next family reunion. Even though I know I'd get dirty looks from my grandparents for inevitably wearing a nutsack on my shirt, it'd be worth it as long as ever time I see myself in a mirror, I can giggle like a 10 yr old boy.

I have been a big fan of X-Play ever since it was called Extended Play on Tech-TV. One thing I always like about X-Play is that it always gave honest reviews of titles, as well as gave some great previews of upcoming titles as well.
This week, X-Play debuted it's new format, which was going to focus less on reviews/previews, and give viewers a more complete experience with "breaking" news, hands-on demos, and some interesting topics here and there.
The thing about the show is I feel it's trying to be a lot like Attack of the Show, in that it's trying to feed us a lot of content. In Attack of the Show's case, they have a complete hour to fill, so they can take their time with their stories. In X-Play's case, it's only a 30 minute show, and given the amount of content they try to cram into that small amount of time, the show overall feels rushed. I haven't timed their segments, but it feels like they're 2 or so minutes long, and then the show goes into commercial.
I really think there is a lot of promise with X-Play. Adam Sessler & Morgan Webb both deserve a longer show segment not only to give the segment the time it deserves, but to also allow Adam & Morgan to be themselves more often rather than reading from the prompter. That's the thing that AOTS succeeds at, it's ad-libing. I think the reason why Adam & Morgan ad-lib a lot less is because the show is so short, they really can't waste any time. Anyone who has met Adam knows that he is very passionate about the industry and can hold his own in a conversation about almost anything gaming related, so allowing him to ad-lib would not only benefit X-Play, but G4TV altogether.
